LG's HDTV Microsite

Project Details:

The creative team at DGI decided to use the prime above-the-fold real estate on the homepage to showcase the entire line of TVs in a "carousel" where users can easily rotate around the product lineup. This is a treatment that users find easy to operate and utilizes the capabilities of Flash in a way that is visually pleasing but not using “Flash for the sake of Flash”. The carousel shows users the key features of the TV but invites them to learn more on the series overview pages which feature 3D interactive tours of the models, key features and specifications, as well as related products.

LG Electronics, a leader in flat panel LCD and Plasma televisions, wanted to build a site that would easily show users their full range of both LCD and Plasma TVs, such as the EDGE and Scarlet lines while also showcasing other key surrounding initiatives such as the Techorate, BD300 and Connection Guide microsites.

The idea was that this should be a central repository of HDTV information where users could be directed from online of print materials and find anything related to the TV lineup. There were two key considerations: 1) That the site showcase the lineup of TVs that conveys the premium feel of the TVs themselves, and 2) that LG could update the site with new models using XML feeds and template page designs.
